Acqua Di Gio - Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani - Acqua Di Gio
2nd year high school (1998) to 1st year college (2002)

This fragrance was inspired by Giorgio Armani’s’ holiday spent on the isle of Pantelleria. The scent of lazy summer days and freedom. Acqua di Gio achieved its high-quality status by perfectly harmonizing aquatic notes with sweet and fruity notes of muscat grapes from Pantelleria along with blending them successfully with the freshness of pineapple and citrus notes. Watermelon blends nicely with the notes of freesia, hyacinth and ylang-ylang. The warm, woody and musky base note remind of the Mediterranean warm temperament. This fragrance was created in 1995. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas.

My Thoughts

Back in high school, I really love the perfume that my friend (Edra) has been using and that is Acqua di Gio.  Since I did not have access to perfumes like these back then, I only got it when my aunt (Mary) was kind enough to buy me a bottle when he came to visit us from Taiwan.  This is the only perfume I was able to use as a student.  I was so afraid to run out of it I kept it in our fridge.  See? It lasted me for 4 years!  I can never forget how much I scrimped on using it yet this can last me a long time.  I can even smell this on my uniform when I bring them to the laundry bin morning of the following day.

I’ve seen some the perfume pyramid of the perfumes I’ve been using and I was surprised to know that this perfume contains the most notes!  To me it’s just a nice smelling perfume back then.  I didn’t even know about the notes a perfume has.  I cannot remember smelling any fruits from this perfume.  It’s more like a floral perfume to me.  And that’s all this perfume is to me.  I might have a better description when I smell it again now, but I’m quite content remembering this just as that.

Don’t expect the comment I’m repurchasing this.  As I have said in my previous post, I don’t intend to repurchase any perfume; or that is until I find the perfume that can make me repurchase it.  There are a lot of perfumes out there to try and I can’t wait to have another reason and the right budget to purchase another one.

Who Wears This

A nice adorable girlfriend who doesn’t know how to nag.  Very feminine and loves to wear light fabrics in white or peach or the bottle’s shade of green.  No high heels but the dainty feet can be seen in the sandals she wears.

Memo Lalibela + Jo Malone Wild Bluebell

I got my sample of  Memo Lalibela . I can’t decide if I really want it, but I bought a Home Diffuser for €55. Crazy as it may sound but it intend to use it on my clothes and see if it can scent me! Perhaps even on my hair. Mixed it with WB and they complemented each other so well.  I sprayed Inle also from Memo at 10am. It is now 5pm and I can still smell it on my skin. Marfa lasted just as long but I enjoyed the aquatic notes in getting from Inle more. Inle is one I’ll consider getting in the future but I wont be getting Marfa.

Perfume Inventory Check-in

I have just counted how many perfumes I have and at some point I just need to stop accumulating and start enjoying them. I’ll keep writing here and record my perfume experience in the coming days.  I have 3 bottles I want to empty: Jo Malone Wild Bluebell - surprisingly long lasting. I’ve had this as early as 2014.  A memory I recall is using this sometime in  autumn in New York. I was with Christian and Julie at Times Square. Back then I have decided that this will be my wedding day perfume but much has changed since then. Will finish this but probably wont repurchase.  Penhaligon’s Artemesia - I got this because Christy just loves it. She loves vanilla smelling perfumes and I cant recall having a vanilla perfume back then. Perhaps Shalimar? But it is not the perfume you’ll think when you crave for a vanilla perfume. It’s okay. I like wearing this to sleep. Probably not a crowd pleaser if I wear it outside here in the Philippines.  Elizabeth Arden Lotus Green ...
