Yves Saint Laurent Paris - Jardins Romantique

First perfume I bought with my own money a.k.a. My First Job Perfume (2007)

Groups: Floral

 My Thoughts:

I’ve never bought a perfume during my days as a student.  I’ve lived off mostly on colognes, cologne gels and some body sprays.  Filipinos love to smell good. No matter what their budget is, I’m inclined to believe that there is always a perfume or cologne stashed somewhere for special occasions if not used on a daily basis.  I can still remember the day I went to Rustan’s Makati when I got this perfume.  This may not be the best smelling one out there - there were other brands available of course.

Since I’ve already decided to purchase some cosmetics from YSL, I might as well get a perfume from them because of their promo card back then.  I can’t remember the amount of purchase necessary to get a premium item for free, but surely I bought quite a lot to get me a full sized bottle of Baby Doll – also from YSL.  I didn’t complete the promo card with that single visit.

The first thing that attracted me to this perfume is the bottle.  It just looks so fragile.  I can remember making myself believe that this fragrance is really the smell of a garden in Paris.  I didn’t even have to look at the other perfumes that YSL has at that time.  I just really need to get this. Knowing that this is a limited edition fragrance made me want to purchase it more.

I’ve been using this fragrance every day to work.  I like that people can smell it yet they don’t know what I’m wearing.  When I’m wearing this, I feel like being a nice person.  It smells floral and powdery in the end.  I can’t remember smelling mandarin orange at that time but I know that there is something fruity I can smell.  Wearing this perfume everyday became a chore and I brought the bottle in the office intent on finishing it as soon as possible.  Now I’m missing this smell.  I wish I still have some juice of this darling left.

I’m probably getting another Paris if they released another limited edition.  They released some limited editions after this but it's either I don't have access to them at that time or I'm just simply not keen on getting another bottle. I have smelled the original Paris and it smells similarly the same.  It might take some crazy spending frenzy (which happens so often lately) for me to buy the original Paris but having a list of perfumes to try out may kick in some sanity in me.

Who Wears This

Should I continue writing this section?  I’m afraid that I might just be describing myself or myself in another world.  Anyway, somebody needs a long hair to wear this.  I’ve kept my hair tied up in a bun when I was wearing this.  Maybe that will do but I’m thinking that long hair needs to be hanging down the wearer’s waist.  Skirt is mandatory.  I can’t even imagine how I was able to wear this with pants!  Unless the whole outfit is white, pants is probably not a good outfit to match this.

I looked up the 2013 Spring Couture Collection (I love but could never possibly afford couture) to see what kind of outfit will match this and here’s what I found:

I wasn’t able to find a perfect match for Jardins Romantique, but if you combine the two, they should smell like Jardins Romantique.  I need the pink color from the Giambattista Valli and the flowers draped in the shoulder of the model from Alexis Mabille. Oh! It must be the mandarin and lilac or rose notes one can smell while looking at these two haute couture numbers! Don’t they smell powdery too? I need something in green though. There should be something green.

Memories Evoked

Braving the storm to go to the office in a turtleneck with a gold necklace

The garden beside Salcedo Market while drizzling

Audit friends

The pond at the back of Philippine Stock Exchange (I’m not sure if it’s really a pond, but water plants were planted there)

Hydrangeas given as a gift during one of the firm’s Christmas party

Carpeted floors in our Philam office

Smell of freshly cut grass

Man-made forest in Bohol

Memo Lalibela + Jo Malone Wild Bluebell

I got my sample of  Memo Lalibela . I can’t decide if I really want it, but I bought a Home Diffuser for €55. Crazy as it may sound but it intend to use it on my clothes and see if it can scent me! Perhaps even on my hair. Mixed it with WB and they complemented each other so well.  I sprayed Inle also from Memo at 10am. It is now 5pm and I can still smell it on my skin. Marfa lasted just as long but I enjoyed the aquatic notes in getting from Inle more. Inle is one I’ll consider getting in the future but I wont be getting Marfa.

Perfume Inventory Check-in

I have just counted how many perfumes I have and at some point I just need to stop accumulating and start enjoying them. I’ll keep writing here and record my perfume experience in the coming days.  I have 3 bottles I want to empty: Jo Malone Wild Bluebell - surprisingly long lasting. I’ve had this as early as 2014.  A memory I recall is using this sometime in  autumn in New York. I was with Christian and Julie at Times Square. Back then I have decided that this will be my wedding day perfume but much has changed since then. Will finish this but probably wont repurchase.  Penhaligon’s Artemesia - I got this because Christy just loves it. She loves vanilla smelling perfumes and I cant recall having a vanilla perfume back then. Perhaps Shalimar? But it is not the perfume you’ll think when you crave for a vanilla perfume. It’s okay. I like wearing this to sleep. Probably not a crowd pleaser if I wear it outside here in the Philippines.  Elizabeth Arden Lotus Green ...

Acqua Di Gio - Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani - Acqua Di Gio 2nd year high school (1998) to 1st year college (2002) From Fragrantica : This fragrance was inspired by Giorgio Armani ’s’ holiday spent on the isle of Pantelleria. The scent of lazy summer days and freedom. Acqua di Gio achieved its high-quality status by perfectly harmonizing aquatic notes with sweet and fruity notes of muscat grapes from Pantelleria along with blending them successfully with the freshness of pineapple and citrus notes. Watermelon blends nicely with the notes of freesia, hyacinth and ylang-ylang. The warm, woody and musky base note remind of the Mediterranean warm temperament. This fragrance was created in 1995. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas .   Groups: Floral Fruity   Main Accords:  Floral     White Floral     Fresh     Green     Woody     My Thoughts Back in high school, I really love the pe...
